Update: Our friend Nick who was living by the airstream, graciously surprised us with an early homecoming. He moved out & into another place overnight. We came by and everything was gone. We are forever in his debt. He’s an old friend of Rama’s and one of the most magical people ever.

We’re figuring things out one day at a time. New living expenses, new homeopathic Lyme protocol, taking apart the airstream to sell for scrap metal (Rama’s drilling out the bolts and using a sawzall to get the pieces together).

Here’s a recent pic:

We’re not too sure we’ll make it to the Ozone clinic in Mexico, but I will continue seeing a Lyme specialist here in Asheville.

A lot of people are confused about Ozone Therapy because, in our country, it’s considered “alternative therapy” - which, in America means “wrong”. I did try antibiotics, but outside of the crazy herxing (see: Herxing Wiki,) I also had many negative side-effects that stayed with me for months afterward. I was told that my body isn’t strong enough, as I’ve carried Lyme for nearly 12 years and would need antibiotics for years. Years?? I can’t afford it, and there is no insurance or funding that supports this kind of treatment.

After much research, I learned that there are other forms of therapy that are promoted in countries (like Germany) who are ahead in the medical world and their equivalent of our FDA approves such therapies as Ozone.

There are certainly politics revolving around alternative therapies. What isn’t funded by certain companies isn’t legit, if you see through the eyes of a dollar bill. No prohibition of ozone therapy is evident in Barbados, Bulgaria, Cuba, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece,India(Dr Kares Hospital,Gurgaon) Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Ukraine. In the USA, recently passed Alternative Therapy Legislation has made ozone therapy an option for patients in some states. In Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Minnesota, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, and Washington, physicians can legally use ozone treatments in their practice without fear of prosecution.

So it’s available in our country, why go to Mexico? Because in the US, it costs as much or more than a new car… and in Mexico, it costs as much as a used car from 1996 with 89,000 miles on Craigslist.

Okay - so it’s cheaper there!

Before I began antibiotic treatment, I posted on Facebook asking for help from friends/family. Because of them, I was able to begin seeing a specialist here in town. I was also able to begin antibiotic therapy. A month rolled by and we hadn’t received any more donations. What were we thinking?? We thought we could just be magical people and have a positive approach to everything and the magic would just happen. :)

At the same time, the antibiotics were killing me. I had to stop and my doctor said that it is safe to stop after the first cycle, but it wouldn’t have been had I stopped later on down the road.

So, we found out about Ozone Therapy, homeopathic healing through an herbal protocol from two books on healing Lyme, and a few other alt-therapies (like Rife and hyperbaric oxygen chambers). I told the MD that I was interested in these therapies and he highly recommended Ozone, but insisted that I attempt the hyperbaric chamber before doing the Ozone therapy.

We knew we couldn’t ask for help anymore. We couldn’t explain what was happening. Lyme Disease is the most complicated disease when it comes to treatment.

So, we decided to sell the airstream. We found a buyer for $9000 and she was on her way to pick it up (traveling from Spain to Texas, then road-tripping out to NC with her boyfriend & father). We were going to sell my car, too.

The tree crushed the airstream and both our cars. Some skeptical people called it an omen. The hopefuls called it a sign of amazing things to come. I don’t know what to call it until I get to that place where hopefully that question can be answered. I don’t want to lose hope. I want to believe this thing will die. I can’t live with it anymore.

Luckily, though, it would have consumed my entire life had I not met Rama when I did. He is the best thing in this whole world. He put so much time and effort custom rebuilding that airstream. He’d had it for 5 years and loved it so much. Why couldn’t the tree have waited, you know?

Anyway, one day at a time is what’s happening right now. We’re trying to get a band going (Rama plays drums, I sing some) and we’re dreaming new dreams about whatever is to come.

I’m focusing on my photography & retouching.. hoping to get a gig doing that somehow. I’ll post some of my pictures next. No more typing incessantly.

Thanks for listening!
