WLOS ABC 13 News :: Top Stories - Tree Crushes Home, Couple's Dreams
2 days ago, at 7:15am, we were awoken by a giant tree crashing down on top of us while we slept. It landed exactly in this perfect, miraculous position that kept our bodies from being crushed, so we’re grateful to be alive.
The people from the news mispronounced Rama’s name (Rama rhymes with mama or llama) and never mentioned that we had a finalized buyer on her way to pick up the airstream for $9000 which would afford medical treatments for me and pay off the medical debts that have already incurred over the past couple of months.
For those who don’t know, I have late stage Lyme Disease. The treatment is an IV Therapy at an Ozone clinic just South of the border in Mexico. Ozone has been scientifically proven to be the most effective treatment for Lyme, especially with long-term care. I was only going for a 3-week treatment. I would need more in the future, but this would be a boost above the plateau where I’ve currently been standing with this illness.
The tree also demolished both of our cars.
Here are before & after pictures in full sets if you’re interested in seeing our magical little home: http://bit.ly/imgsba
But for those who would prefer to see one picture from each, immediately, here’s this:
Since then, we’ve had to rent a car to get other obligations taken care of and have begun stripping the airstream for aluminum, copper fittings, etc. to sell at a scrap yard in hopes of recovering some funding in order to make it to the clinic by November.. and potentially afford an oxygen machine, future visits to my medical doctor, etc.
If anyone, or anyone you know, has the means or any interest at all in donating, donations may be sent to:

We had hoped to not need to ask for any donations at this time, and believed that selling our sweet little airstream would have been enough to get us started, and to get me to a point (possibly) of being able to work so that Rama could begin working full time (instead of caring for me) and I could also work some in order to continue pursuing treatments.
We never wanted it to come to this. We understand if asking for help of this kind alienates anyone. We also understand if no one wanted to read this long message! ;)
Here’s a “before” video - a walk-thru - of the airstream that we had posted on Craigslist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNIL0hSpcd0
Thanks! This is my last post for a while, as we continue working on picking up the pieces.
